Dear XXX:

On June 30th, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will raise its rates - for the third time in three years.  Despite these annual revenue increases generated at the expense of citizens and businesses, USPS is nearly $13 billion in debt and fast approaching the $15 billion debt ceiling mandated by Congress.  USPS also has another $84 billion in unfounded liabilities looming - and they have no debt reduction or cost-cutting plan in place.

The General Accounting Office (GAO) called the USPS business model "unsustainable" and placed USPS on its "high-risk" list.  GAO also called for greater accountability and transparency at USPS.  We agree.

As part of the one million members and supporters of Citizens Against Government Waste, I the undersigned respectfully call for an independent audit of the United States Postal Service to answer the question, "where's our money going?"

Sincerely,
XXXX
