David Williams is Vice President of Policy for Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) and its lobbying arm, the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW).
CAGW was founded by J. Peter Grace and Jack Anderson in 1984 following the release of the Grace Commission report. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, educational organization with more than one million members and supporters nationwide. CAGW publishes the famed Pig Book detailing pork-barrel spending each year, along with Prime Cuts, a compilation of wasteful federal programs.
According to official Office of Management and Budget and CAGW figures, implementation of Grace Commission and other waste-cutting recommendations has helped save taxpayers $944 billion since 1984.
Mr. Williams is an expert on government waste and the budget process. His television appearances include: “ABC News with Peter Jennings,” “Hannity and Colmes,” CNN, and Fox News. He has also appeared on numerous local network affiliates. Mr. Williams has appeared on hundreds of radio talk shows from coast to coast, including WBZ in Boston, WGN in Chicago, KABC in Los Angeles, WCBS in New York, and WOAI in San Antonio.
As Vice President of CCAGW, the 501(c)(4) nonprofit lobbying organization, Mr. Williams has testified numerous times on government waste issues before committees of the United States Senate and House of Representatives.
During his 15 years with CAGW, Mr. Williams has been instrumental in the development of strict criteria to define pork-barrel spending that is used by members of Congress and the media. He is the primary author of the Pig Book, Prime Cuts, several state Piglet books, and numerous investigative reports.
Mr. Williams has traveled to Great Britain, Jamaica, Mexico, and South Korea to help establish groups similar to CAGW in those countries.
Mr. Williams has a Masters of Art in Political Science from Villanova University, and a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from Kutztown Univeristy.
